Richard first became interested in photography when he was a little boy, going out with neighborhood friends and shooting black and white photographs with his cherished Kodak Brownie film camera. That fun continued until young adulthood, when he did macro photography work for the Orvis Company’s catalogues and newspapers.
From there, Richard developed into a landscape photographer using Ektachrome slide film. He would present slide shows from Yellowstone and surrounding areas to Federation of Fly Fisherman and Trout Unlimited groups. He made the transition from slide film to digital format cameras, after which he began to appreciate the creativity that the digital format allows, from capturing the image in camera to the final post editing software.
Currently, Richard is a photography instructor who enjoys leading photo walks and workshops. He was a speaker at ClickCon 2019 in Chicago, where he led four photo walk workshop classes. Richard is also an Olympus brand ambassador.
