Shooting with the Nokia Lumia 1020 & ABEO Pro Tripod
By Vanguard Professional Uros Podlogar
I started using the Nokia Lumia 1020 mobile phone two years ago and was impressed by its camera's capabilities. The Nokia team was also fascinated by my initial photos, and I became their official ambassador. I really liked the manual control - they felt intuitive and provided me with instant feedback in the Live View - no different than shooting with a pro DSLR in Live View mode. Slider rings allow you to have advanced control of your camera's features. You can set your own White Balance, ISO sensitivity, manual focus, exposure compensation, and shutter speed. It also has the ability to capture photographs in DNG (RAW) format. Maximum image size at a 4:3 aspect ratio is 7136 × 5360 pixels. A fixed aperture of f2.2 is great for handheld shots in low light conditions. Since then the Nokia Lumia 1020 has always been in my photo backpack.
I love using the Vanguard tripod Abeo Pro 284CT and head BBH 200 set, not only with Nokia Lumia, but with all my cameras. It is a compact set that I can easily carry around, even on rough or steep terrains. The adjustment of the ball head is fast and simple in all directions. The stability of the set is great, which is an absolute must with long exposure photography such as in the "Soča" and "Klavže" photos below. I also love the ABEO legs: not only do they provide extra stability, but they also adjust well to all kinds of surfaces. And one of the best features of the Abeo Pro 284CT tripod for me personally is that I can get it really low to the ground. I use that a lot with beach photography, for example.
